Our Team


Kim Hughes

As Director of Care Services for The ALS Association Arizona Chapter from 2004 to 2016, Kim worked with thousands of families affected by ALS. She conducted home visits, facilitated support groups, served on ALS clinic teams, managed equipment loan closets, advocated on Capitol Hill, and much more. ​Kim is known throughout the ALS community for her extensive knowledge, candid advice, big heart, and sense of humor. Prior to her time at The ALS Association, Kim worked for a durable medical equipment company.

David Meissner

David Meissner is a writer, educator, and content creator who has developed websites and educational materials for organizations such as The American Federation of Teachers, National Center for Learning Disabilities, and WETA Public Television. David has a master’s degree in education and has taught students from kindergarten through twelfth grade. In honor of his aunt, he has created this online guide to help improve the quality of life for those living with ALS.​

Tom Meissner

Tom Meissner is a real estate developer, entrepreneur, and recovering lawyer. During his 30 years practicing law, Tom started a number of small businesses and side ventures. He currently owns and manages a handful of industrial buildings in the Phoenix area. After supporting his sister, Myna, during her two-year battle with ALS, Tom envisioned Your ALS Guide and dedicated himself to making it the leading educational website for families facing similar challenges.
